I just love creating things and I believe I inherited this trait from my parents.
As children, my sisters and I thought we were the luckiest kids in the street as we had all sorts of things our friends did not, such as a zip wire in the garden! My dad was a builder throughout his working life and had scaffolding in his garage, so he rigged up a zip wire from the top of our sloping garden right down to the bottom. It was such fun and all the local kids befriended us so they could come and join the fun. He made us many wooden toys and games throughout our childhood.
Our mother is a great seamstress, baker and crafter. She turns every scrap of material she comes across into a sundress, peg bag or cushion cover. Even now in her 80's she still makes tote bags, peg bags and Victorian aprons and mop caps for a local charity shop, where she helps out once a week.
